Our Staff


The staff at DPEP are exceptional and are the primary asset of the centre. All the teachers are highly qualified professional individuals who work together to make a dynamic team. They each have a strong commitment to the healthy development of the children and to maintaining open communication with the parents. Most importantly, they all love being with children!

Qualifications:

All full-time staff have qualifications recognized by the Ministry of Community and Social Services. The staff have yearly training in CPR and First Aid, and likewise attend professional development courses in areas such as child abuse, behaviour guidance and curriculum planning. The teacher to child ratio is 1 to 8.

Supervisor:

The Supervisor holds an N.N.E.B.(National Nursery Examination Board) Certificate from England, and the Day Care Management Certificate from George Brown College in Toronto. She has been working in DPEP since 1987. She was employed as the Head Teacher from 1987 to 1993, when she was promoted to the position of Supervisor.

Head Teacher:

The Head Teacher received the E.C.E. (Early Childhood Education) Diploma in 1995 from George Brown College in Toronto. She was awarded a Certificate of Musicianship and Music with Movement for Young Children Certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto in 1998. She has worked in DPEP since joining the staff in 1989, starting as an assistant. She became the Head Teacher in 1998. She is currently responsible for teaching 2 of the enrichment programs - Art and Music.

Teacher:

Her qualifications include NNEB; ECE Equivalency; Certificates in Daycare Management and Advanced Special Needs. She started her employment with DPEP in 1998 and returned in 2007 after a two year absence. Her responsibilities include the drama and cooking enrichment classes.
